When she had realized she was in heat she had run away from her herd, but now was tired. She wanted to rest for awhile. She smelled the air. it smelled of other horses, but not nearby. She scratched the dirt with one hoof, then decided to at least stay a day or two until she had some rest. She started eating ravenously, not paying attention to who was nearby anymore.
