There's nothing very difficult about the Treaty of Versailles. What has almost certainly happened is that you have allowed yourself to get overwhelmed by the mass of information.
What you need to do before you start trying to remember all the details is to get your head around the basics - and then this gives you the 'pegs' onto which you can hang the details.

You need to know THREE main things:
1. What the nations wanted when they went to the Conference
2. What the Treaty of Versailles said
3. What the nation thought about the Treaty when it was finished.

THE TREATY OF VERSAILLES - BASIC IDEA
There had been a (terrible) war. Germany had been defeated (after 4 years of hell). They needed a Peace Treaty to sort out what would happen. So the winners met at Versailles and agreed:
1. Germany was to blame for the war (clause 231)
2. Germany should be made to pay for the damage done by the war ('reparations' to 'repair' the demage)
3. Germany shouldn't have any armed forces to speak of.
4. Germany should lose lots of land in Europe, and all its colonies as well.
Easy enough, eh?

Now you understand the basic concept, begin to add a bit of meat to your learning. Use
<a rel=nofollow target=_blank href="http://www.johndclare.net/peace_treaties4.htm">http://www.johndclare.net/peace_treaties4.htm</a>
to find out more details about the four terms of the treaty above. Can you find out any additional terms? Don't move on until you know loads of facts about what the treaty said, and can remember them. Practice writing them down in lists. Astonish your friends by telling them obscure facts at inappropriate moments!
Another good idea is to divide up the terms into different categories (try: 'military', 'territorial', 'financial').

NEXT STEP - EXPECTATIONS
The next thing I would do is to find out what each country wanted when it went to the peace negotiations.
<a rel=nofollow target=_blank href="http://www.johndclare.net/peace_treaties3.htm">http://www.johndclare.net/peace_treaties3.htm</a>
will help you do this.
Sit your mother down and explain to her what each of the Bog Three wanted and why. When she understands what the hell you are talking about, you will understand what the Big Three wanted.
The reason you need to know this is because the final step is to see how happy each of the countries was with the Treaty.
At the recent Conservative Conference, the advertiser Maurice Saatchi told everybody 'Saatchi's Law':
Satisfaction = Performance - Expectation
To find out how happy the nations were with the Treaty of Versailles, one of the things you have to know is what they were expecting in the first place.

FINAL STEP - VERDICTS
So now you know what everione wanted
and you know what the Treaty gave them.
So you should be able to work out quite easily whether they were happy with it or not!
<a rel=nofollow target=_blank href="http://www.johndclare.net/peace_treaties5.htm">http://www.johndclare.net/peace_treaties5.htm</a>
and
<a rel=nofollow target=_blank href="http://www.johndclare.net/peace_treaties6.htm">http://www.johndclare.net/peace_treaties6.htm</a>
will help you collect your thoughts.
