OK, Outlander, can you tell me the 'gud reason' behind the following clauses of the Treaty of Versailles:
1. we will declare the principle of 'self-determination', but will then tell one eighth of the German people that they have to live under the Poles, the Danes, the Czechs, etc.
2. we will set up the League of Nations so we can negotaiate problems instead of fighting them out - but will then not allow Germany to join.
3. we will declare disarmament the way to stop war - but then will force only the defeated powers to disband their armies, and will refuse to disband our own.
4. we will say that Germany bears ALL responsibility for starting the war - when everyone knows it started when Austria declared war on Serbia and Russia mobilised against Austrian mobilisation.
5. we will MAKE UP a figure for the damage in the war and tell Germany to pay it all - and if Germany is having any problems we will invade... and all this in the name of PEACE!!!!!
No, the Treaty of Versailles was a disaster, and Lloyd George knew it.
