Subject: So I Didn't Miss My Entrance? What About My Close-Up?

In reply to: Dorjan 's message, ".. On Cue .." on 22:23:45 12/31/06 Sun

Krev gave a jerky bow to the commands, teeth grinding away at their own accord. He stepped inside the room and shut the door behind him, rather than have the spooky powers that the Master used close it. No matter how much Krev tried, he couldn't get the last image out of his head. Keir, an eight-year old boy, jerking off? That just wasn't right. The kid wasn't supposed to be becoming some sex slave extraordinaire; he was just supposed to be some manual labor around here. Arg. What was the Master thinking?

Krev took a deep breath to calm his frayed nerves. Although he wasn't too fond of Keir, the kid was still sweet and cute when it came down to it. So, when he's seen that...Krev gave an involuntary shudder. Focusing his mind on something else was hard, but he'd do it.

Pulling the chair from beneath the table, Krev waited for his Master to be seated and asked, "How has the evening been thus far, sir?" If he occupied himself with other things, maybe Keir would come to his senses...whatever senses an eight-year old has.

((Sorry for shortness - was rushed for work.))

.. Dorjan was thinking just whatever the hell he wanted to think - and acting on it too. And the bottom line was that there wasn't anything Krev could do to change that one way or another. Dorjan had kept slaves for, well, almost as long as he'd been reborn, and he certainly wasn't going to let the opinions of one alter his entire process.

The flawless, yet certainly faked at least to some extent, smile that was on Dorjan's face remained there as Krev moved into the room and closed the door behind him. "Pleasantly tame," Dorjan responded as he took his own seat, crossing his legs under the table neatly. This was no situation for him to be overly dripping with manners, so he wouldn't lose the opportunity to indulge himself slightly with that action. ..

After taking the few moments while Dorjan was seated to calm himself (a little), Krev sat in the chair opposite the vampire and settled what was the equivalent to raised hackles for him. It was true, there was absolutely nothing that he, as a slave, was able to do about Keir's training. In fact, the whole matter was out of his hands entirely. Maybe, if he emersed himself in work, he'd just forget about the entire episode and avoid Keir and Hayden. That was entirely possible if he spent all his time in the pits, and they to their quarters.

Reminding himself silently that he was here to go over the years between his being sold and returning to the mansion, the older shifter sat up attentively, waiting for the command that he knew was going to come and dreaded. He hated going through this story...

.. Forgetting was certainly advisable for Krev's own interest. If things interfered with his behavior, Dorjan would be quick to correct them in whatever manner he could. Putting these things aside (because Dorjan was also tired of eavesdropping on thoughts), he turned to the meal before the two of them. "Please, feel free to take whatever you want to eat." Even as he spoke, Dorjan was pouring himself a glass from the red wine bottle.

"Now, tell me in more detail what it was that you did with your previous master." It was asked casually as he swirled the liquid in his glass before sipping at it, waiting for Krev to choose his piece of the meal before taking in the solids. ..

Lifting the bottle of white wine (it always suited him more), Krev pours himself a miniscule amount before looking up to address the Master. Here it comes. The story. But, first, loading his plate with the ham and cheese, two pieces of apple pies, and a pile of the sweet potato casserole, he puts it in front of himself.

"After that morning that I...that I was sold, sir, my Master fly us out to Bahrain, where he said a client owed him a deal of money. The client was a trainer, so in exchange for his debt, he was to train me. His specialty was in...bondage sex slaves, sir." Krev hesitated now and glanced down at his food. The plate looked wonderfully appetizing, but he forced his mind away from it. There were too many things trying to interrupt him. And he was always embarrassed by the next part.

"I stayed and attempted to complete my training, but I was unable to perform to my Master's expectations. He told me that I didn't display the necessary qualities to be submissive. So, my trainer once again resumed his debt and I wasn't any better off. By now, my eye has healed over and the doctors say that I'd have scars over that side."

"When we went to meet another of the Master's clients for a gathering with some pit fighting, the client said he had to be at his wife's side for the birth of his first son. The Master told him that he'd have to finish the fight first. There was a lot of bickering, but it ended in a small brawl and the client betting the life of his first son on the fight. Our fighter won and the three of us went to retreive Keir.
"

Krev cleared his throat, unsure of how to continue after that. There were still far too many details to be left blank for the Master to be happy at all with his explanation, but the blush that creeped into his cheeks was evidence enough that focusing on another thing didn't help his protection instinct of Keir. Now the kid was...ugg. He didn't want to go there.

.. White wine would probably favor Krev more in this meal. It was certainly hard to tell what else was mixed in with Dorjan's drink. The vampire waited patiently as Krev put what he wanted onto his plate, and seemed to be fairly pleased that he neglected to eat and instead told the story that had been asked of him. That bit of gratitude for obedience faded as Krev's story seemed to prolong itself and he still ignored his food. Dorjan didn't want this to be stuffy; Krev needed to relax.

He waited until the shifter was done speaking before interjecting himself back into the conversation. "Please, eat. You shouldn't feel obligated to not do so. You are here for a meal, afterall." He reached for the ham himself before going after the beans and a roll. "Your manners are appreciated, Krev, but to take them so far is unnecesary."

"Now, what is it that you did for your master then, if you weren't suited for pleasure? Were you assigned to babysitting so quickly?" ..

His manners seemed to give way to the rumbling of his stomach. "Ah, thank you, sir." After chewing a bit of ham thoughfully, he went back to the story, occassionally biting into some new dish, which only pleased him more.

"My Master, the client, and I were at the client's mansion during the birth because the mother feared leaving the house with her unborn child. When she did give birth to him, my Master called on the debt right away and took the child right after he was named. The mother only knew her child for a few minutes, and the father none at all."

Taking a small sip of wine, Krev continued. "Since I had only the ability to guard my Master, and then only with limited abilities, he decided to post me as temporary trainer for Keir. It seemed as if I had upset him in some way. I taught Keir basic training and attempted at manners, which seems to have failed. And it was only a few years after Keir's "graduation" that the Master..."

The older shifter didn't finish, but looked down at the plate of half-finished food in front of him. The sweet potatos looked appetizing, so he dug into those with a renewed vigor.

That is, he dug into them until he felt a sharp sting across the side of his face and saw Keir fly off the side of Hayden's bed. From there, he stood abruptly. Looking across to the vampire on the other side of the table, he paused, weighing the repurcussions of the actions he was about to take.

.. A smaller smile crept into place at Krev's first comment about the food, chasing after the shifter's poor stomach it seemed. "Of course, of course." As Krev continued to speak, and eat finally, Dorjan cut his meat and began to slowly take part in his own food. His most dominant intake, however, was the red wine whose bottle seemed to never empty. Krev was certainly intelligent enough to pick up on the fact that it was blood wine by now, if he hadn't already.

His attention fell in and out as Krev told his story, seemingly distracted by his food and drink at times. Despite the appearance, Dorjan was very keenly alert to what Krev was presenting to him. It wasn't merely some dinner conversation to pass the time, this was Dorjan's business after all. If he was lacking some scrap of information about someone's past, then he was lacking a piece of the picture that allowed him to control his slaves and provide for them what it was that they needed when they needed it.

The sudden interruption to Krev's train of speech was toyed with and allowed until the shifter stood abruptly. Dorjan's face lost the small smile, harder lines creasing the corners of his mouth and his brow. "Sit down, Krev." There was no room for argument in his tone, the statement very clearly being a command. To defy it, well, that was to challenge the man that jad just taken the pair in without but so many questions. ..

The tall shifter stilled under the vampire's command, but squirmed for a moment before trying to get his side of the argument in. "But, Master, I..." Krev fumbled with words to express his frustration in the current situation. "He's just a boy, he finally stated, matter-of-factly.

But, he sat down anyways. Sitting quietly, the jaglion shifter clasped his hands in his lap and held them together to force himself to stay where he was. The actions just kept playing themselves in his mind's eye, though, with no mercy for his attention.

Keir, trying to apologize. Hayden, becoming agitated. Throwing the comb. Keir, escaping the room. All in a matter of mere moments, as Krev sat impatiently, wanting to run down the halls screaming bloody murder. Dammit, Hayden. If you weren't a friggin supernatural being, then Krev would be after you the second after this meal ended.

.. The mood was spoiled; there was nothing to be done about that now. Dorjan had no taste for the meal before any more now either, which simply soured his mood further. It seemed that the cat shifter was intent on destroying what was supposed to bea nice reward for him, and instead making it obvious that he instead was itching for a punishment. The nerve that Krev showed in trying to squirm out of his command before finally folding bordered on pissing Dorjan off entirely.

"For your information, slave, I am the master here and decisions are up to me. You have no say in my judgements." Krev's pure inattention was equally weighing on the vampire's anger, making everything threaten to a quick boil. "In addition, there are children much younger than him that have done much more without anyone to teach them. His lack of education and exploration in those areas are due in fact to your interference with his natural and inevitable advancements." Well... ouch. ..

His hands turned white from the lack of circulation flowing through them. The words accusing Krev of not properly tending to Keir's training, those hurt more than he had thought they would. The kid was just a lifetime charge of his to be looked after until death do they part. Or something like that.

With the food still left on its plate, Krev stayed silent. The jaglion shifter itched to wringe the new vampire's neck. Or wringe Keir's for not having called him or the Master before any of this happened. There. That was it; he could blame the kid for all this. That would surely solve everything.

The sinking feeling in Krev's stomach didn't go away though. But, this time, it didn't have anything to do with Keir's hide and everything to do with his own.

.. Dorjan's gaze was steady and hard on Krev, unwavering from the feline shifter despite the array of ragged thoughts rising from him. Krev flitted from anger to a different type of anger, wavering towards calm, and finally landing more firmly on fear. It was vaguely interesting to watch someone flicker between emotions so easily like that, so plain and unsubtle as if he had no clue just how easy it was to read him. Of course, he probably didn't or, more correctly, didn't care. It was still mildly amusing.

"Finish your food," Dorjan dismissed Krev's attention on him abruptly with that rather light command. If there was something that was going to happen to Krev, or perhaps in order to collect Keir, the vampiric master wasn't going to do immediately. He picked up his wine glass and knocked back what was in it in one fluid swig before refilling it without a moment's thought. Definitely not wine in that. ..

Krev immediately, although somewhat stiffly, finished the food on his plate. There was no telling just how long he'd have to sustain his body on the vitamin-rich slop that the pit fighters were given, if at all. After he had completely cleaned off his plate, the jaglion shifter lay the fork gently on the table with a hand that shook.

The male swallowed the lump in his throat and realized that his mouth had gone dry. There was a line of thought somewhere in the back of his brain to just up and run for it, no matter how bad the consequences. That was a rather sudden reaction to the current situation, and since Krev liked to plan these kinds of things out, decided to ignore it for the time being, but to keep in as an emergency plan in case something drastic happened to the poor kid.

Staring down at the clean plate, Krev remembered the wine and took a small sip of it before clearing his throat, obviously waiting for permission to speak, or at least do something.

.. The stiffness in the shifter's actions, despite the amount of blood-alcohol that Dorjan had just drowned, was not unperceived. In fact, Krev was certainly being heavily scrutinized at this point in time. Dorjan was judging his actions as if to a point, black eyes staring without really even needing to see him to simply know what was going on. The shaking, however, was a sign that was almost so obvious it was unexpected. Dorjan himself wondered for a moment if he had really noticed it.

"I would have thought that you would be more composed, Krev. Was your former master perhaps so lenient or strict on you that I should deserve this at my dinner table?" It seemed as if the vampire viewed this situation to his disadvantage, as if Krev was purposefully insulting him in some strange way simply by being too frightened. Of course, this conclusion probably wouldn't help to settle the poor shifter's nerves any, but it didn't seem as if Dorjan cared too much about that.

"If you wish to say something, do it." Although the 'now wasn't directly spoken, there was a heavy implication that it was there, pressing down on Krev for action. ..

Krev neither replied nor even showed any awareness that the question had been asked of his former Master. It was far too close to home to have a response. The second command was a bit trickier to manage. Krev opened his mouth, coughed softly, then closed it. If he said what was on his mind, then he would surely be threatened. Again. If he didn't, that could be considered a refusal of a direct command. Arg, this was complicated.

Deciding to take a chance, Krev cleared his throat. "I believe Keir requires some assistance, sir." It was the politest way he could say what was on his mind: Keir is in trouble and I don't think you're doing a good job of protecting him.

.. Dorjan's eyes narrowed slightly at Krev as he ignored and paused to his near-commands. When the shifter finally did speak up, it was certainly not to Dorjan's taste. The frown that was beginning to creep onto his face deepened and drew crow's feet around the corner's of his mouth. He did not like begin spoken down to, especially when it was sugar-coated, and especially when it was one of his own slaves that was doing the talking. Not to mention the simple fact that Krev had ignored his initial question.

"You will learn where your place is here quick enough, Krev. Or you won't be keeping certain things close to you at all." He set his glass down on the table with far too much precision. "His failures, as you have already made clear, will fall on your head." There was no doubt from Dorjan's tone that what had happened with Keir was indeed a failure. ..

"Yes, sir. You've clarified my understanding of that earlier." There wasn't any remnant of pain in his shoulder, but just the idea frightened him. To have that strength and to be able to use it in the pits; my, what a dream.

Krev sat silently now, finished with his dinner, unsure of where the conversation would go next. He'd certainly screwed up badly. "I apologize for ruining dinner, sir. I'm not used to being apart from Keir. But, I'm sure that I'll adjust soon." It was the only thing left for him to say. No doubt, if the Master had plans for him to be punished, then there was no way to deviate from those plans or even change them. For the worse, maybe. But, never for the better.

.. The vampire stared for a while at Krev after he had spoken, trying to weigh whether the boy had been purposefully malignant in his first words or unconsciously so. Either way, it should most likely be pointed out to be corrected in the future. Dorjan's eyes narrowed the smallest fraction. "I would presume that for your better health and continuing comfort that you would do as you have just stated." His voice was plain this time around, the threat that usually resided underneath it missing.

At the same time, the vampire pondered whether or not to pour himself another glass. Krev was done eating, but it just wasn't proper to base allof his actions around Krev's whims. Especially this one. The shifters would have to learn to be apart from one another, and they'd have to learn so fairly quickly. "You can't fix dinner, but your remorse is dully noted." Flatter this time, and the anger was broiling behind the words again. ..

"Yes, sir," Krev replied. He sat, silently, waiting for the Master to dismiss him. There was nothing that he could do to make things go faster or better except for wait. Krev pushed Keir out of his mind, suppressed the urge to check in on his extra sense ever-so often just to see how the kid was. If the Master could sense his anxiety, then it was best not to be anxious, right?

.. Dorjan decided against the blood-wine. It wouldn't do him much good at this point, and it wasn't like the alcohol ever effected him anymore anyways. It was more that it was a gesture of civility than anything else. He gave a flick of his hand, sighing. "Go to him, and keep him with you in the quarters." Dorjan didn't move from his seat, merely sunk his head into one of his hands and stared at the bottle of white wine that Krev hadn't exactly finished. "Take the wine with you, at least," the vampire threw in as an afterthought. So much for dinner indeed. ..

Krev stood, suddenly at the command. Bowing, he went to back up, but then took the bottle as well. "Thank you, sir. I'll be sure to keep Keir close by." Krev would surely need the alcohol to drown out the whining by Keir tonight; that is, if the kid wasn't having nightmares. The tall shifter bowed once more and exited the room, half-trotting towards the guest bedrooms right after he was sure that the door had closed behind him.
