Subject: I wouldn't go that far
In reply to: tyrone 's message, "Re: IRELAND GAME TODAY!" on 12:25:18 06/05/02 Wed

first of all - I love Ireland; the place, the people and the football team. Further more when we went out to Spain on Penalties i could not help myself- i went upstairs fell on my bed and started crying!- I would have minded but we played so well, especially in extra time. What a way to go out.
On top of that i prefer watching the Irish play- i find the games more entertaining- and that generally not just because they have a knack of equalising with some of the best teams in the world in injury time.
-there were not many people that went more wild than me when Keane got that goal against Germany. I shouted and schreeched and laughed till i lost my voice. When the game ended all i could think to do was ring my Dade and tell him the result.

But i honestly dont think they could beat England- and to be fair this team is starting to gel, much more than recent England teams.
I dont care what anyone says- one good goal from Heskey (and it had large elements of luck) does not justify his position in the team. I am so frustrated that we cant seem to get anyone to work with Owen; i haven't seen enough of Shermingham to be convinced that he is the one.
I think Fowler might work with Owen. If not we might have to consider something not directly involving Owen.

I take back what i originally said about Sinclair- though one tournament doesn't make him a legend he has really clicked- and done easily as good a job as i expected from Hargreaves.

Who are we playing on the right at the moment?

I my and Tyrone's reservations about 4-4-2 might become more apparent now- we are the only team left playing it and though i would be cautious about shanging anything now the last team in (Ex. Eng.) to play it was Denmark.

anyway yeah England are starting to play well and they would beat the Irish.
But i take my hair off to the Irish- they have got a very young squad with two exceptions: the Mighty Quinn and Mr. Steve Staunton- but hopefully after another couple of years the rest of the team can develop to make up for these. Maybe in Euro 2004 we could see Roy again.

AND WHAT TEAM WOULD not want
