The term "mujahideen" does mean Islamic warrior in the most literal sense. However, here, i feel i have to comment that term "mujahideen" was first used in the 1500's to refer to the islamic warriors who were fighting extreme persecution for practising their religion. This is the only context in which mujahideen can correctly be used, when fighting for the freedom to practice islam.

The term was wrongly adopted by islamic fundamentalist to give themselves legitimate religious excuse for carrying out their monstrosities. The taliban, and other fundamental islamic groups however as we all know are not fighting for the freedom to practice but to enforce islam on those not willing. in this sensem they are no different from the source of persecution the real mujahideen were fighting all those centuries ago.

I am only writing this as a matter of interest to where the actual word originates, i am not criticising or picking out faults in anybody's use of the word as today it has taken a completely different meaning and is so often associatied with the word terrorist. And in this context, its the only label by which they are recognised. This is propanganda by the fundemantalists who wish to use words of such stirring origins to gather blind support from other muslims.

That is why i refuse to even call these people mujahideens if i can help it. It is a noble term which terrorists dont deserve. As for nasseem hamed, i'll give you arrogant and retard (all those knocks on the head) but it would be an insult on all the real mujahideen to call him one.
