I think what made that so distasteful is that they seem to be shaming him into guilt. I am in no place to say whether or not he is guilty or innocent (coz I'm pretty ignorent about the case) but I would say that democracy doesnt involve condemning people based on social norms of ettiquette and behaviour. It almost feels as if the prosecution/media are having to utilise stereotypes of 'deviance' in order to back up their case. I dont think that bodes well for the evidence against him despite the fact that I know little about the case. Why would they have to characterise him in this way if they had good evidence?
