You ARE right. The Speed bracket works with a sping clip that holds the archwire in place.
Archwire changes are very easy and fast with them. IMHO this is the biggest advantage (for the ortho). And in my opinion they are easier to clean b/c they are a lot smaller than traditional brackets.
