Subject: Worn retainer?

I had my braces removed in February and currently have a clear plastic retainer that fits over the teeth. I wear it at night. I've noticed that it's worn down in a few places and has a tiny hole at the bottom of one tooth... I guess I've been chewing it in my sleep. It still seems to fit okay - do you think the wearing is a problem? I don't want to replace it until I absolutely have to, but I don't want to compromise my treatment either. Anyone else have this experience?
