The assistants in my ortho's office go through all that with their patients whether they are adults or children. She has a model with braces on it and shows how to thread floss through with threaders, how to use the proxy brushes and picks to remove debris and how to brush properly. Then they give you the yukky pictures of someone who didn't brush and shows all the damage to their teeth after the braces were taken off--you get to take that jewel home with you to remember . . .
