This may be a bad description but here goes...My crossbite was like this...On the left side of my mouth my top teeth sat inside of my bottom teeth. I could feel with my tongue the bottoms of all of my top teeth on that side. I hope that makes sense. Ony two of my teeth on the left side touched. My crossbite was the result of a badly constricted maxilla. I had tried to use an expander a year ago and it didn't work. It had to be taken out because the pain was so bad. I was 26 at the time and the bone had fused together already. My only options once the expander didn't work was to leave the crossbite alone and fix the teeth (basically for cosmetics) or to have the expansion surgery. I went for the surgery and I am thrilled with the results. I had an expander put in 2 weeks before the surgery and 5 days after surgery I began turning the key once a day until I was at 8mm. My crossbite is gone and my teeth touch...for the first time in my life I can chew on the left side! I have heard of a lot of people my age using an expander only to have things relapse. Sorry if I gave more info than you wanted. I had a really bad crossbite and I know what you are dealing with! I hope this helped.
