It soooooo depends on the girl. I find your particular idea adorable, but then again I always give high points for creativity and could care less about the piece of glass girls seems to go all epileptic over. People in the states tend to forget that the ring is a symbol, a promise. There are tons of cultures where there is no engagement ring, or specifically a diamond ring, as part of the wedding ritual.

You could never look like a jerk!!! 110 points to you for thinking this through and trying to make the moment as special and unique as possible. Good Luck!
