Hi, Kelly. Things will get better but here are a couple more hints. First, make sure that there are no wires that are sticking out. If there are, ask your ortho to trim them or bend them out of the way. Your archwires may start to stick out further at the back of the buccal tubes as your teeth move. Don't wait until your next appt before asking for them to be trimmed. If you are told that they can't be trimmed any shorter and they still stick into your tongue, ask if they can be bent inwards. Mine have been, several times. Next, carry your wax packet in your pocket, so that it will be soft, when you want to use it. Leave it in place, when you eat and just replace it, if you swallow it. It doesn't matter if you swallow it. It isn't fattening. If it were, I'd be enormous.
