Well my guess would be it depends on how much room you have to make. I would have to say i had mine on for...ummm...maybe 2 months then there was enought room for one tooth to come foreward then maybe a month later the other one had enough room to come foreward. but i hear that it differs like with age. so im 16 if that helps
With the first tooth, he simply attached it to the archwire once teh room was made. But unfortunatly there was just too much pressure and the bracket popped off. Then i went back and he put the bracket back on and REALLY made sure it was a good bond and attached it to the archwire again and it came foreward it a matter on 45 mins...no joke.
Then with the second tooth there was almost enough room so my ortho decided to get clear tie thing(like plastic) and tie in the tooth so it would start moving foreward and at my next adjustment he would take off the clear string and attach it to the archwire. But unfortunatly when the assistant was tieing the string around around the tooth and then to the coil springs the bracket popped off. So then i had another adjustment for 2 weeks later to try again. So after the 2 weeks he tried again and it worked, and a few weeks after that he finally attached the bracket to the wire and im now free of the springs. And when i saw attach the bracket...they just put the archwire in and put ligs around the brackets...which when bringing a tooth foreward takes more time than usual..lol
With me, sence the springs were in the front of my bottom u could kinda see them but not that much and they dont look all that weird.
