Great idea.

After my treatment and if I decide that I need to have grafts to improve my smile (cosmetic reasons; it isn't significant enough to pose a risk to my teeth, I don't think), I intend to go to The Ohio State University College of Dentistry and allow a periodontal resident do it.

That way, they get the needed practice, I get a cheaper rate, and I have TWO doctors working on my gums. I think it is a definitely a good idea.

Keep in mind that all residents in a specialty program are doctors before being enrolled, and they're supervised (as Joanne said) by professors who have been in the field for years and years.
