Looking younger can be a burden just as much as it can be a blessing. Obviously, where one stands on this issue is heavily dependent on a person's current age. As someone who is in the same age group as the original poster (or so I presume), it is easy for me to understand why she (or anyone) would not desire a "younger look"; especially the younger look provided by braces.

While I agree that most adults desire to look younger, I'd image that you'd be hard pressed to find someone in the age group of 18-25 who relishes looking 5 or 6 years younger due to braces.

I view getting carded at a bar as more of an annoyance then an accolade...but to each his/her own. I guess it's a case of the grass being greener on the other side.
