You know something odd, I had braces when I was 10-13 on the 8 permanant teeth I had then(interceptive treatment), and it was actually much harder for me socially then it was my second half of my sr year with braces, but most people say the opposite. I wanted to get clear braces since I'm into acting/modeling, but i couldn't afford them so I just got metal. While I do feel self-consious, I also feel less alone because now more of my peers have braces. When I was a kid, everyone was a pain with "let me see your braces!". And one thing I'll say about high school/college aged kids, is it's not the same name-calling and locker shoving stuff that it was in intermediate school. It's more the arkwardness and self-consiousness. I'm debating whether to smile or not in my new headshot. Since I got braces I treat myself to things like perms and highlights and pedicures to boost my self esteem(I know it sounds stupid, but it makes me feel better).
