Everyone's experience with pain associated with braces is different. Some experience a great deal of pain, others not. I personally feel that orthodontists should give the patient what he/she needs to manage pain, including Rx pain meds. I have been in braces for two months and have not needed any pain meds. I would suggest that you wait and see if you need any ibuprofen or other meds after braces, then take it as needed.
