my sis is 43 and just got her braces off last year. I am 47 and just got mine on 1.5 weeks ago. My sis swore by using silicone instead of wax. It sticks better, does not come off in bits, smooths much better than wax, is softer and more clear than wax and when you want it to, it comes off easier than wax.
My ortho does not have silicone, so I ordered some from www.dentakit.com. I took the plunge(only $10) and bought the 9-pk so I could have it for awhile and have a pk in every place I need it. (work, purse, home, etc).
The only con is that you have to dry your teeth with a tissue because the silicone won't stick to moisture. However, once it's stuck-moisture does not dislodge it! No big deal-just want you to know all the facts.
Check it out-you won't be sorry!
