I went thru this too.. I had a dry mouth and super-chapped lips. I've had braces on top for about 5 weeks now.. And it seems to have gone away. I just assumed it was because when I first got braces, it hurt to close my mouth all the way, so I was leaving my mouth open.. When I went to the ortho, I overheard the assistant saying to another patient that her lips were dry and looked like they were about to crack.. so I guess thats just something that most of us go thru...
