How does the ortho deside what type of retainer you get? I had interceptive treatment when I was 10 and when I got my braces off at 13 I wore the Essix retainer until now, that I'm doing the second phase of treatment. I didn't have any trouble with the essix retainer besides that it affected my speech. I've also heard about hawley retainers and permanant retainers, how does the ortho decide?
