Subject: 2nd month of 6 month treatment plan question Author: lin [ Next Thread | Previous Thread | Next Message | Previous Message ] Date Posted: 16:38:13 07/14/04 Wed I've been coming to this site for 2 months now to look for some support. I got ceramic on top and metal on bottom. This is the 2nd time I have braces. I got braces for the 1st time when I was 17 and had them on for 2 years. Got them on again now at 30 because I could visibly that my upper teeth (especially front 4) had turned a bit. I'm already worrying about when I get my braces removed though. I know how fast my teeth shift (the first time I got my retainer within a few weeks and already could see they shifted). Is there a way to get fitted for a retainer while the braces are still on so there isn't that "waiting" time to get the retainer? I'm also wondering what type of retainer I'll be fitted for. The hawley retainer I had just didn't seem to really do a good job of holding them in place. My orthodontist mentioned there is another type retainer, maybe Essex? that is clear like invisalign.
