After 15 months of braces they came off this morning. I still can't get used to seeing my brace-free smile, its almost like its not me!! I put up with awful teeth for 23 years and still feel overwhelmed by the whole thing. I was so nervous this morning, I was shaking in the chair, and my ortho kept having to tell me to relax! My ceramic brackets broke up when he tried taking them off, but the metal lowers just popped right off, and the molar bands were a bit reluctant to come off (felt like he was pulling the whole tooth out each time!) My bonded retainers feel a bit strange, sort of like food stuck behind my teeth, and I have a sore throat from where some of the etchant (not sure if that is spellt right) ran down my throat, but I am so happy! I cried like an idiot when they first gave me a mirror, I was like 'wow! are they MY teeth?'
I keep looking in the mirror and can't stop smiling!
I have taken a couple of brace free pics that I will send to Lynn to update my page.
To anyone thinking about braces or just embarking on getting them, its totally worth it!
