Dunno about over there but I suspect it was the same, dollars. More people throwing more around. Whether they had it or not. 2 cases from here in Aus anyway....Alan Bond and the Americas Cup and Christopher Scase and just about everything else. Both threw millions of dollars (they turned out NOT to actually own) into big sponsorships. I suspect it may be the same over in the US. A lot of paper millions and lots to spend it on.
