No reaction yet.

Did you read this one yet:

The story is a perfect example of Fischer's way of thinking. Notice that Fischer leaves out information: The description of the boxes (more important the description of the annotation of the boxes). Even when the police take Fischer seriously how could they ever investigate the robbery of approximately 31 “very old” empty moving boxes? Any old empty moving box in Budapest might be Fischer’s.

The second important piece of information missing : Why did the Vienna police report only two weeks later that the car was towed away? Janos must have told Fischer the reason.

“I accompanied Mr. Rigo when he went to different police stations to report the supposed robbery of his car. Especially at the first station the police treated Mr. Rigo’s story whatever it was with the utmost scepticism. I didn’t understand everything Mr. Rigo and the police said to each other because my German wasn’t too good in those days. (Now it’s considerably better, at least in my opinion.) The police to their credit seemed to instinctively feel that Mr. Rigo was lying and up to no good. They scoffed and shouted at him and generally treated him like dirt. They knew a con artist when they saw one!
