James, Just a quick FYI since it appears as though we are both working on similar vehicles and looking to Dan for header solutions.

I have a 496 in a 68 "A" body (Chevelle) with a set of Canfield "350" heads. I just received my headers from Dan two days ago and though they are a little difficult to install ( You have to pull the motor) I couldn't be happier with the quality and fit of the headers. GREAT PRODUCT! THANKS DAN!!!!

I have approximately 3/8 of an inch from the top of the collector to the floor pan on the driver’s side and slightly more on the passenger side. I have 1" drop spring on my car and launch the car carrying the front tires at least 6" and won't have any problems dragging the headers when the car comes back down. In fact, I had a set of Hooker Comp headers on the vehicle before I bought my "Lemons" and I have every bit as much ground clearance as I did before.

Personally I would much prefer to make a change to a 7" mini booster rather than alter the fender skirts. (But I prefer to keep the body of the vehicle as close to stock as possible.)

Additionally I have a friend with a 70 Chevelle with a set of Hooker Super Comp headers (one tube on each side wraps around the outside of the frame) and he had to change his front tire size and wheel offset to keep the tires from rubbing on the header tubes.

Again, Just FYI.

Bud
