I train the go-out with a Chuck-it tennis ball launcher. I start with the dog next to me and launching it as I say go out until the dog is at the point of anticipating it and starting to run already before I throw it. Once it has that, then I start give the command and wait until the dog has hauled off down a ways before I throw it over their head past them while they're running. Occasionally I throw in a down and then chuck it to them when they down. This makes for rocket fast go-outs.

My boyfriend trains it with a bird launcher at the end of the field. You start close to it, rev the dog up, pop the toy from the launcher as you say go-out, his dog is mezmerized by the frisbee launching up in the air. Then of course you back up as the dog gets it until you can send the dog from the other end of the field and the dog will bolt down there in anticipation of the launcher when they get close. Occasionally throw in a down, if the dog does it, then pop, out comes the toy, if it keeps running, then the launcher stays shut and the dog starts over.

My way costs $15 for the chuck-it, his costs alot more, but his dog is better with the bird launcher while especially my ring dog was better with the action and anticipation of the ball flying overhead.

Good luck!
Holly
