Hello
I am new to tracking and have a few questions. I have trained obedience, assistance dogs, herding and a few other things but never tracking.

Can anybody tell me where I can find the best information on tracking and what types of tracking test are there?

I have been to a Schutzhund club before but only practiced for a few months then stopped because I was very ill and pregnant. I do not know of any Schutzhund clubs in my area but would like to at least track with this dog.

The dog I am working is nuts over tracking. We have been working for 4 days now and we work 3-4 times a day and have only worked him on grass. Right now I am putting 2 turns in and he keeps his nose to the ground and does the turns fine. As soon as he realizes we are going to track he gets so excited, barking and going nuts. I am having him down before we track and settle a bit. He is calm and collected to track but as soon as we are done.. he will put his nose to the ground look at me over and over. It is so funny.

My problem is I need to know the rules for tracking so I do not start a bad habit with him.

Any help would be great.
Thank you
Trish
