ANNIE ROSA TATMAN was born 15 Sept. 1875 and died Jan. 1968. She had a sister named Alma who married Thomas Laurence Hudspeth in St.Landry, Evangeline Parish, Louisiana. She went by the name Rosa and taught school in St.Landry. She married Wilber K. Helmer and they are both buried in Vandenburg Cemetery, St.Landry, Louisiana. I am looking for the parents of Rosa. This is all the information I have. I know the family moved to Louisiana from another state, but I think Rosa was born in Louisiana.

I am related to the Thomas Tatman b.1770 in Allegany County, MD Married Margret House, then their son Isiah Tatman b.Oct 18, 1814, married to Clarissa Moore, then their son, William Thomas Tatman b. Mar. 23, 1839 in Hocking County OH. Married Nancy Turner and that's where my Great Grandmother comes into the picture. Martha Jane born around 1872,I've been told that she wasn't their biological daughter, they raised her along with their other nine children. She was a Native American Indian, she would never tell the story of how she ended up with the Tatmans, she didn't want to discuss it at all. So I have been researching, trying to find out how she ended up in this family and what tribe she was from. I have found a Malinda Tatman who is thought to be 3/4-1/2 Native American Indian, she was married to Joseph Strohl Jan 23, 1870. She is the daughter of James Tatman and Elizabeth Wolford. Her sister, Matilda married Joseph Strohl's brother, George Westley Strohl. Martha Jane Tatman worked for my Great Grandfather, George W. Appleman, as a housekeeper and care taker for his two children by his first marriage. He later asked her to marry him, she agreed and they had the following children, Roy, Willard, Brian, Linsey and my Grandmother, Iva Belle. If anyone has any information on this family mystery, I would be so happy. Thank you, Kathy

I have traced my Tatman's from Vinton County Ohio back to Thomas Tatmam from Alleghany County Maryland born in 1770 and was married to Margaret N. House. They were supposed to have had ten children. I have only three. Isaiah. Thomas,Jr. and LuRhoma. Thomas' father was Benjamin. Don't know if he moved to Ohio or not. Don't know either if he was born in Maryland or Delaware.

Has anyone noticed the name Julia Ann seems to run rampant in the Tatman family? I take particular notice since my ancestor is Julia Ann Tatman born OH ca 1838, married Ezra House in Bearfield, Perry Co, OH 1856. I have seen so many Julia Anns in my search. Problem is, I can't find her in 1850. I cannot determine who her parents are although Joshua Tatman signed for her to marry and he is said to be the son of Bartholomew. Julia Ann and Ezra House lived next door to Bartholomew in 1860 Fairfield Co, OH. Later they lived in Washington Co, Iowa as did Benjamin Tatman and many others linked in this Tatman family. Does anyone know who Julia's parents are???? There are so many Tatman folks in such a small area of OH and before that MD. Haven't counted how many Julia Anns but I can guarantee, there are a bunch!

I am a direct decendant from Thomas Tatman through his son Isiah. Is there any information on Thomas's father. I know that Thomas lived near Flintstone Maryland up Murley's Branch. There was a Benjamin living in the area but I believe he must have been a brother since the ages were close. I would also like to know where Thomas died and where he is buried. I would also like to know the same about Isiah. I have information on other direct decendants from Isiah; Lewis,Mosas and Mart

Many months ago I posted this question. I'm still searching for Mahala Tatman's connection to the Tatman family. I do not have any indication of who her parents were. I'm speculating that Bartholomew may be her father and Anna her mother. I have nothing to back this up. Any help would be appreciated.

Mahala was born about Abt. 1817 in MD. She married John Thrapp (b: July 9, 1816) on April 15, 1837, in Perry
Co., OH.

John and Mahala had the following children (that I'm aware of) all born
in OH:
William Thrapp (b: May 1839 )
Lucinda Thrapp (b: May 27, 1841 )
John Elias Thrapp (b: May 1843 )
Mary Thrapp (b: Abt. 1846 )
Elizabeth Thrapp (b: Abt. 1848 )

Hi looking for any information on the life of Rev. Joseph Tatman Jr who was a legislator and minister in OH around the turn of the nineteenth century. I know his wife was Rebecca Bryan and his parents were Joseph Tatman and Sarah Murdock (sp?)

If anyone has access to anecdotal information about this early settler I would enjoy adding it to my collection.

Good hunting.
