The pressure of her side against his didn't move him. The beast was built like his father. He watched his lovely sister leap about like a stag and had to smile. She would never change in some ways. And a war? He wasn’t surprised, having witnessed a part of it himself while in death and called by his father.

As she continued to speak and said the name of his first home his face brightened.

"That was it!"

He exclaimed softly to himself. Now he remembered! Yes, yes! It was all coming back in mad surge. The meadow, the ancestors, Flurry, the darkies, Storm, shape-shifting... it was all there again. Upon his awakening he had only remembered Firelight and somewhat of his parents. Beast shook his head. Surely the memories of eternal darkness had clouded his mind. Another shudder of dread was barely concealed. If he ever had to face death again it would be too soon.

"I think..." He started speak, slowly and unsurely. "I think I will go to the lighties... just to clear a few things. But I will return." Before he finished he was moving toward his sister. Shadow-dipped mug nuzzled her lovingly. "I'll be right back. I love you."

He had to make sure he said it. It didn't seem like he had said it enough the first time he left her. The beast surged away from her and sped on shadow's wings toward his origin. He found a sense of excitement and yet dread swelling inside him.

Before crossing the border of the dark lands he looked back at his sister and smiled. Once past the border he renewed his power and took the form of a black wolf.
