Hey Mac,

my understanding is that a French Ring dog would be fine as long as the you could work the dog in the appropriate manner.

If the dog didn't know the exercises (say a French only dog that couldn't handle the Mondio Defense of Handler) you may have a problem showing your work.

My priority would be...

Healthy and in shape.
Know the rules.
Know what to do when the dog doesn't know the rules.
Catch the dog safely.
Impress the dog and show the judge where the weaknesses are.
