Subject: Ashcroft A Loose Cannon

For the past two weeks, I have read nothing but "Mr. Ashcroft is a man of great integrity." Of course he is, that is why he will not enforce a women's right to choose. He believes that his integrity is bigger than any "liberal laws."

The Bush Administration should withdraw the appointment of John Ashcroft to such a critical cabinet post as Attorney General. I raise this concern not just because of his conservative beliefs. There are many other conservatives that qualify and are able to fill this post. However, John Ashcroft is a loose cannon and could be more of a problem to Republicans than Democrats if confirmed. He constantly states that he gets his orders from God and not from man. The Attorney General and the Justice Department investigates all other cabinet members, vice President, President, and anyone at his discretion. He will not listen to Mr. Bush or anyone when he becomes Attorney General. This type of religious fanaticism can doom the nation and certainly the Republican Party.

In recent years politically, it is difficult, if not impossible to fire an Attorney General, especially this one with the Religious Right breathing down Mr. Bush's neck.

Please, I call on Rev. Jerry Falwell to withdraw this nominee because this is a big mistake that's going to polarize the nation and become a disaster for President-select Bush.
