Tet, Jan. 31-1968,
At MSC as I remember it, during Tet we worked a shift
(8-hr)stood guard a shift and had a shift off.
I was assigned a spot on the south east section of
the perimeter, past the south gate, closest to the
ammo dump, right near Rt-1, I was in a trench.
As I recall, the ammo dump was hit two nights in
a row. The first night Charlie hit a section that
held flares and the sky was lit up like the sun
was going to rise just over the next hill.
On the second night, Charlie hit high explosives
and I thought the whole dump was going to blow,
the earth did shake.
Anyone remember the stampeding Water Buffalo?
Or the Vietnamese hauling fire wood in a Lambretta
that was killed by the Hyundai driver's near the
main gate?
Only time in the army that I was not payed on time.
Any one remember the night we were hit by the 155mm
luminary shells from the Koreans?
I recovered one of the shell.
Later L.B.J decided not to seek reelection
March 31, 1968
M.L.K. was assassinated
1968 April 4, 1968
R.F.K. was assassinated
June 6, 1968
The whole war changed
