My Dad passed away in October 2000. Although he passed very peacefully and in no pain, I was not there when it happened. I know he is in a wonderful place, but that has not helped much in him never talking with me during his illness about his illness and the events that were to follow, given his condition, treatments, etc. He refused to discuss his illness. I had asked plenty of questions, both of his doctor and the Cancer Society, so I knew the inevitable outcome of his particular illness. I kept it to myself, at his doctor's request, being as this discussion needed to happen between him and his doctor only. I did not even prepare my Mom, since she was his major support and felt at the time that she needed to stay as positive as the doctor wanted him to stay. I needed him to say things to me that he did not have the time, or take the time to say. I need to know he's OK. I need to know the things he might have said to me, had he been more able to discuss his illness. I have no closure with my Dad's death - I need to say goodbye in some way to him. Thank you, Cheryl McClay
