Animal crossing over

My beloved cocker spaniel passed away last week; and it is a little hard for me to accept his crossing over and would like to know from anyone who might answer directly to my email address, if in case of animals, do they remain next to you at another dimension, with you and wait for you once you pass away.

We miss him greatly; really a great little soul.

All answers will be warmly comforting for us.
