Stan Collymore's career has always been dogged with controversy. He seems to be a man heading for self-destruct after the latest allegations made against him. It makes me wonder though. Stan took the very brave decision to curtail his career at a relatively early age, so that would suggest that he's a very strong willed person. therefore I would have thought that he would be capable of controlling such compulsions that get him into trouble?

For anybody that actually knows Stan or has spoken to him, he's an extremely intelligent bloke and would probably do well in anything he sets his mind to. I for one will be very interested to see how he explains his way out of this one. He's on tonight's Jonathan Pearce's Football Night, (1am Five) and although I think very little will be spoken on the subject, it will be interesting to see how he handles himself.

Personally I think he's lost his place on any self respecting football stage, ie: Managing, Playing or Media work. There are far too many bad examples out there for our kids to witness as it is. However, the media can't escape this without any blame as they set up the sting. Can't they find anything better to report on other than a washed-up has-been player. Don't they believe like me that Stan's compulsion is to do these stupid things because he wants to be caught?

If Stan wants to toss-off in a country park with one leg cocked against a VW in the dark of night, go-ahead and let him! You'd let any other Collie do the same - as long as their owner cleared up after him!!!
