News from an old story. Paul Gascoigne never quite made it to the Skem midfield this season, but he was seen a few weeks back drinking in a pub near Skelmersdale, when he mentioned the fact that he would love to play football at non league level, but said that he'd watched a couple of games recently that had put him off. He reckoned he would have to prove a lot more at this level than if he was to play in the football league again, plus he would have to cope with younger players trying to make a name for themselves at his cost.

So it looks unlikely that Skem will ever stand a chance of luring him out of a self-imposed semi-retirement.

More recently United had approached Stan Collymore but he declined the carpark attendants job for the new ground!
