The defence always seems to get the blame when you lose, but there are other aspects that need looking at. Against Curzon the ball was played directly from defence to attack from a Curzon perspective, which put our defence under constant strain. We played some good football in parts, mainly from the flanks, when maybe against a team of their style we should've switched every now and then to lifting the ball to central areas for our attackers to run at. Indeed when Michael Cole scored it was from a central area that he received the ball. Far too often though they picked us off on the break, and we couldn't handle their pace. Without Jocky at the back, we didn't have the organisation we normally have. From a central midfield point of view we were lost without Steve Tobin. He can hold the ball up and feed the attack, he can also takes the sting out of a game. You could also say that when we fail to put away the many chances we have, we are giving the opposition more confidence. We are also put ourselves under more pressure. Gally knows where we are going wrong, and I'm sure he will put it right. [ Next Thread | Previous Thread | Next Message | Previous Message ] |
