En alweer is het de laatste dag van het jaar,
waarvan ik het beste probeer te maken, ook al drukt het verdriet zwaar.
Het meeste verdriet heb ik van de wetenschap dat niet iedereen vrij is,
en van het feit dat ik mijn geliefden op zo'n dag nog meer mis.
De herrie van het vuurwerk, daar ben ik niet meer bang van,
ik ben zo ver dat ik het verschil tussen nu en het verleden zien kan.
Ondanks dat ik niet meer daar ben en een goed leven leid,
voel ik toch nog de strijd,
het hangt in de lucht niet ver hier vandaan.
Dat te voelen is niet te onderkennen,
ik zal er nooit aan wennen....
