Subject: WE NEED DYNAMIC INFORMATION ON ZOROASTRIANISM

we are not doing enough to spread/espouse information on zoroastrianism and on ancient iranian history on the media. although there are a huge number of websites on zoroastrianism on the internet, i find most often that they are selected/choice of only those who wish to see these. the news media and television are more dynamic in the sense that a news reader is bound to glance through an arcticle even if he is not primarily interested in the subject. then there is an increasingly large viewership of general knowledge viewers of TV channels such as DISCOVERY, HISTORY, NAT GEOGRAPHIC....in the last 3 months, for example, i have seen one each documentary on iran/persepolis on these channels[that too not in India!]
and in comparitive documentaries of iran and greece the latter is shown in better light. how many know that the persians were not really serious enough in the invasion of mainland greece as the area was considered as a far border problem whilst on TV the greeks are still being unduly glorified! moreover western Turkey was at that time Ionic Greece WAS UNDER PERSIAN RULE FOR MORE THAN A CENTURY! Later the Parthians and still later the sassanians gave crushing defeats to Romans several times[even taking 3 roman emperors captive!] would not the young generation of Zoroastrians feel a sense of pride if they were shown this on Discovery/History channels or read about it in respectable newspapers. IT WOULD HAVE A LASTING IMPRESSION ON OUR YOUNG Z's if they saw that public at large are becoming aware of our heritage....see how the Jews, for example, have 'captured' world media to espouse their history and heritage. Zoroastrian community leaders,media, documentary producers etc should get togather and liason with major media such as Discovery and have these show a long serialS on IRANIAN HISTORY and on ZOROASTRIANISM! This will definitely create more interest in Z new generations as they see their heritage being broadcast by international channels and widely read news media.
