What worries me is that you say the puckbunnies know him better than you do? I have a hockey boyfriend, who I love and trust, and like you I loved him way before hockey became such a big aspect of his life. (we started dating before I had even seen my first hockey game ever). We date long distance so I can work and finish my PhD while he is still pursuing his career, and it works for us.

I don't think that you can have a successful long distance relationship without a sincere and solid foundation, but everyone is different! Do what works for you.
