This is great info, but if you are using LauncherX, it has a shortcut feature built in. Once you move a program to the card, drag the new program on card icon to the card again and select create shortcut. This creates another icon with a small arrow indicating that it is a shortcut. I then more the card icon to a hidden tab so that the shortcut icon reminds me that there is a shortcut when upgrading programs. Without the ShortCutz program, this should free up a little more internal RAM.

I use this shortcut feature in LauncherX so that the programs with conduits can still see where the program is.
