I received this email this morning... apparently it is a broadcast email to I would guess employess and advertisers

Clear Channel changes

These are interesting times for the Salt Lake City Radio Market. Rumors have circulated for some time now about the coming changes. I felt that it was prudent not to discuss rumors until actual agreements were signed because of the impact that it has on the personal lives of loyal and hard working employees. Now, I want to personally alert each of you to the facts surrounding the forthcoming Clear Channel changes.

Based upon the current status of FCC regulations, Clear Channel has decided to sell two of our radio stations, 101.9 KKAT and the 94.9 signal (currently KZHT) to Three Points Broadcasting. Simultaneously, Clear Channel will acquire 105.7 KCPX and 106.5 KOSY from our joint sales agreement partner, Mercury Broadcasting. This allows us to fully control all of the stations under our purview. It also allowed us to pick the five most attractive FM stations and signals for our cluster as we approach 2004.

The intellectual property of KZHT will move to the 97.1 frequency which is very exciting to us because this already high cuming property will now become dramatically more effective by reaching more geography, improved building penetration and nearly 300,000 new potential listeners. This move will be heavily marketed and we look forward to sharing those plans with you in the next few weeks.

Our sales managers and account executives stand ready to answer questions and help you through the transition. The transfer of KKAT via an LMA and the move of KZHT to the 97.1 frequency will both happen on December 22nd.

This will be the start of unprecedented ownership and format changes in our market. You and the listening public will ultimately be the judge of those moves. As always, you will evaluate the impact of those changes over the next six months to a year and adjust your marketing plans accordingly. Our changes are done and we are prepared to move forward into 2004 with eight mature and successful products with great signals including 94.1 KODJ, 97.1 KZHT, 99.5 KURR, 106.5 KOSY, 105.7 KCPX, 570 AM KNRS, 700 AM KALL and Airwatch Traffic. This is a solid lineup of stations that reaches diverse demographics and has a history of providing great results for our clients. Our cluster of stations is established, well promoted and branded with Wasatch Front consumers.

We have more than 150 dedicated Utahns working here in Salt Lake for Clear Channel that are committed to serving our listeners, our community and creating successful ad campaigns for our clients. Thank you for being our customer and we are truly excited to work with you in 2004.

Please feel free to call me at 801.908.1313 if you have questions.
