Ok, dummies. KALL is real unique organic thing... and few understand it... I know this about KALL, however. This is an distinct synergy between Tom Barberi and the U of U sports. I'm sure that many even inside the CC building understand this. Keith Pasker does, Larry Richardson does... but likely few others.... The Jim Rome show, even though hearing the moron "clones" call in and try to have "a take" wore thin a long time ago... you gotta understnad the Rome single handedly introduce a vernacular that OWNS "sportspeak" these days... and has spilled over into the general vernacular or everyday speech in America.
And in ALL of CC's experiments with the station... the ONLY thing that they have done in middays that has seemed in any way helpful to Barberi's morning to any degree since they moved Rush over to KNRS has been Jim Rome. It STILL is the top rated sports Talk show in SLC... (AQH 7000 12+ listeners Fall 2002 ARB). Here's the stations other dayparts... 6-10a 5400, 1-4p 1700 and 4-7 3100. Note that these are not usual dayparts... but Rome is on only 10-1... and I wanted to isolate that... and I'm not sure but the 4-7 more or less corresponds to the Phil Hendrie show... or is it 5-8??? If CC is to reap any sort of harvest from the heritage of this station... they need to NOT change three things.... Barberi... Rome... U of U sports. They work together.... and, for better or worse, just pick SOMETHING for the rest of the time.... and stick with it. So far, the only thing that seems to have stabilized in even a small part other than those three is the Hendrie thing.
