's message, "Margins" on Saturday, July 19, 02:51:59am http://www.dialinfolink.com.au/articles/ba/0c0185ba.asp ERG disappointed at losing tender for Transperth Perth-based ERG Ltd said on Thursday it was disappointed to have lost out in a tender for its hometown's first fully-integrated Transperth smart card ticketing system. ERG was pipped at the post by Delairco Bartrol/Wayfarer Transit Systems which has been selected as preferred tenderer for the SmartRider contract, worth more than $30m. WA's Planning and Infrastructure Minister Alannah MacTiernan said the preferred tender was more than 30% lower than its closest competitor. ERG's Asia Pacific managing director Rob Noble said it was very disappointing not to win the tender. In tendering ERG was committed to achieving a positive cash flow profile and return for shareholders and was not prepared to compromise these principles to gain market share, he said. "Having recently being selected to supply systems in Seattle, Stockholm, Sydney and Washington DC, which will contribute revenue in excess of $500m to ERG, it is very disappointing not to be selected for the contract in Perth," Noble said. ERG was one of three companies to tender for the project and has been reinstated as a reserve tenderer for the project. Delairco is a division of Downer EDI, Australia's second biggest listed engineering, infrastructure and resource services company. UK-based Wayfarer, the world's leading supplier of bus ticketing systems, recently set up bus and rail smartcard ticketing systems in Northern Ireland and Sweden. 18 July 2003 [ Next Thread | Previous Thread | Next Message | Previous Message ] |
