Saturday Report

19-Jul: This week has seen some interesting performances throughout all sectors of the share market. With the Aussie dollar having reached a high in recent times that had not been seen in a while, it would appear to have given up the race………not that it means all bad news.

Australian industries, in particular our exports, should be able to pick up now that it gives them a competitive edge on a global scale.

The world waited with baited breath to hear the twice-yearly report from Washington’s Federal Reserve chief Greenspan. Promises were made and time will tell how the market will respond, long term, to what comes through.

In a week that has seen more falls than rises, it is yet to be seen if local investors regain confidence in local business.

The Dow Jones, Nikkei, and Nasdaq all finishing the week on a low note while the Hang Seng finished on a high.
