In reply to: Phil 's message, "Re: Question to all ZZR1100/ZX11 owners" on 25/01/05 21:48:52

just read your question and my reply can help if you cannot source a zzr/zx 11 tensioner.
Remove tensioner internals(spring and pin etc) from your tensioner. Drill a 7.5mm hole in the domed part of the tensioner so that you have a visible hole length ways thru the tensioner body. Using a threading tool(a tap)cut a 8mm thread in the 7.5mm hole that you have drilled. Reassemble the tensioner and screw an 8mm bolt with a nut on the thread( to use as a locking nut) into the drilled hole. Fit assembled tensioner into engine. Turn bolt until tension is felt and tighten lock nut to prevent it coming loose. The idea is the bolt placed in the tensioner prevents the tensioner pin from moving and will stop the cam chain slipping on the idler gear inside the engine, hope his may help if you don't source a zx 11 or zzr 1100 tensioner
