I have no idea without hearing it. Ticking noises that aren't getting any worse I don't normally bother about. My 'busa engine has a slight "tick" to it when I run with the exhaust baffle in. With the baffle out I can't hear it, so it doesn't bother me. In that case it is the cushion springs on the back of the clutch rattling slightly.

It could be any of a number of things. The alternator is chain driven so it could be that I suppose. It might well be the camchain. Again on my busa they make a little noisewhen they are ready to "click" onto the next tooth of the adjuster. If you think it's the same you could try what some of the busa guys do and undo the tensioner a little bit, about 1mm or so, until you hear the tick of the ratchet (it's important not to loosen it off too much or you'll damage the camchain or tensioner blades). When you tighten it up again the chain will be less slack. You should only attempt this if you are confident you can do it without over-tensioning the camchain by jumping 2 teeth or more on the tensioner. When I refitted my zzr tensioner recently after doing the shims I had pushed it right back in and it got stuck there and I had to fit it and push it out manually with a screwdriver to get it moving, so they may be prone to sticking I guess. As I said, I'd have to listen to it.
