The only thing with fixing it up is whether you do it the ethical way or not. The bike will still be a total loss and therefore have a zero insurable value. The next owner might find that, if the bike were stolen or smashed, he would only get paid the scrap value of the bike in return. This has happened to a friend of mine.

My own bike is for sale shortly. I bought it (ZZR1100C2) as a work hack for £400 and after new tyres/brakes/mot/tax etc it owes me £700. I will be informing any prosperctive owner of it's history, even though they probably wouldn't check on a 14 yr old bike. I could make a few hundred extra quid by painting the fairing up and keeping quiet about it's history, but I wouldn't want it done to me, and I wouldn't do it to others.
