I had the pleasure of seeing this band live in November. Do not pass on a chance to see them! One of the best concerts I have seen in years! Behind the Music is a great CD! I have become a fan picking up the band's earlier material and I am impressed with it also. Listen and you will be too!

I saw TSOOl open for Oasis in Chicago and was instantly hooked. I got two cd's, one for myself and one for my buddy tom, who started this thread. I figured he would like them, he's really into 60s rock, Jefferson Starship, the Doors, Bob Dylan, etc. He went nuts. I didn't have to drag him to see TSOOL when they came back to Chicago in November, and we both were blown away. I've seen a decent number of concerts in my life, including my favorites, Pearl Jam, and TSOOL was the best concert I have ever been to...I can't wait til they tour again.

Hi guys...
I saw TSOOL the night before the Oasis gig - they headlined at the Double Door with locals The Assassins opening for them. I only went because a very good friend of mine had been going on and on about TSOOL and he was going to be out of town the night of their show... I went in his place so I could buy him a t-shirt. I'm so glad I went, I was hooked immediately! I went back to see 'em in Nov. at Metro, another awesome performance, even got to hang with the band a little after the show - very very nice people. So needless to say I'm now a big fan. Can't wait til they're back, should be in march, at the Metro. They seem to have quite a nice following here so far, I hope it continues to grow.

Hi Alison,
I'm glad you found the forum. It's great that so many people get hooked when they hear TSOOL the first time, they are amazing. I found out about the Double Door show the night after. I really hope when they do come back it's as headliners again in some small club, because we probably won't get to see them in small clubs for too long if they get the attention they deserve.
How did you get to go backstage, if I may ask? I would love to meet the guys.
Happy Holidays,
Dean.

Hi Dean,
Actually I didn't go backstage, after the Metro show my friends and I went down to SmartBar for one more drink... just as we were getting ready to leave the entire band filed downstairs for some after show partying! We hung out w/ them for quite a while - very nice guys, very easy to talk to.
I'd love to see them at Double Door again... that's my favorite venue around town (it's just small enough to be intimate), but I think they'll be back at Metro in March. I'm in the music biz here in the city and I got the word from one of the bookers I work with. Can't wait!!!

Thanks Alison,
What kind of work do you do in the music business? Could you do us a favor and when you know the date for sure post it here? Oh, and if you have any TSOOL friends give them this link. I can't recall if I have been to the Double Door. I saw Jewel back in 95 I think at a place next to the Double Door, if I recall correctly. November was the first time at the Metro and I loved it, so small and a nice sound. I've been to the Aragon Ballroom and it wasn't so great, the Black Crow's played and the place was a mess, urine was running out of the men's bathroom towards a drain in the floor near the bar. Sorry for the nasty image. Catch you later, Dean.

If I find out any exact date I'll let you guys know. Personally, I'm not a fan of the bigger venues, like Aragon. Metro and Double Door are by far my favorites, just big enough to be a big show without losing the intimacy of a smaller venue. DD is probably 1/3 the size of Metro.
What do I do? hmmm, well the company I work for manages 3 local bands, books a bunch of others, and books a couple venues. What do you do? Are you in Chicago or the burbs?
Alison
PS- I will definitely pass word of this board to any TSOOL fans I can think of. :)

Hi Alison,
I'm in the Western Suburbs. After a few years of managing pet stores I went back to college to become a writer. I'm just finishing up my senior year.
I can't believe DD is 1/3rd the size of Metro, that is tiny! I prefer smaller venues too.
What local bands do you work with? A couple of guys I know from school were in a local band that got a little publicity, Logan's Loss, but they broke up a couple of months ago.
Have you ever gone up to Summerfest in Milwaukee? That's a lot of fun, it normally runs late June through the weekend after July 4th. It's right on the lake and they have 8-10 stages set up with all kinds of bands playing, and none of them are small local bands. They have gotten Wilco, Poe, the Goo Goo Dolls, Jewel, etc. Tickets are normally around ten bucks per day, so you can roam around and see any band you like, it's a blast.
Catch you later, Dean.

Hi Dean,
We book a ton of bands, but we manage 3 - (shameless plug)www.fortypiecechoir.com www.mywolcott.com www.dremana.com
You like TSOOL, so I would recommend checking out Forty Piece Choir - they're a little less rockin', but they get pretty psychedelic at times, all in all a great band.
I've never been to Summerfest, I've heard about it though and would probably love it - I just haven't had the chance to get up there yet. Maybe this year.
Seen any good shows lately? Have a great weekend!
Alison

Hi Alison,
I haven't been to any shows since TSOOL, hopefully I will get a chance to go see somebody before TSOOL comes back.
I have heard the name, Forty Piece Choir, but not their music. They are a Chicago band? I'll have to look for them.
Catch you later, Dean

Alison,
You wouldn't happen to be Quest from another TSOOL forum? Just curious.

yep that's me - you probably saw me on the message board on TSOOL's official site, and their web-roadie message board too... i get bored at work sometimes :) i noticed you on there - deanscubs right? i think on the web-roadie site you posted something about being from chicago, which is why i checked out this board to say hi, since we're in the same city and all. another thing I noticed we have in common is parasol.com... that's where i got my copies of TSOOLs 1st cd and a Union Carbide greatest-hits type cd. they have such an awesome selection of indie and import music, and their prices are pretty reasonable.
So if you get a chance, check out www.fortypiecechoir.com They have some mp3's up on their site, I think you'd dig it. They're a chicago band.
Alison

hey Dean, saw your post on TSooL.net. My theory is that they'll play Chicago, Metro hopefully, on either 3/19, 3/30, or 4/1... all of those dates are still open at Metro, and TSooL will be in the neighborhood around those dates as well. That's my guess, wanna put bets on it? I don't think they'll tour and not come here, they seem to have a great fanbase in Chi. Just my 2 cents...

ACK! Dying to see them again ...but not the 30th that would be a terrible conflict for me as Jefferson Starship is scheduled to come to town then. And I am a loyal Kantner fan! Hope I get the chance to see them both! Happy b-day in advance! TOM

Hi Alison,
Any of those dates would be great, as long as they play here. Playing on your birthday would be great. By coincidence, the last TSOOL Metro show was on my birthday, and it was the best birthday present I've ever given myself.
I saw today that TSOOL added two shows in Indio, CA in late April, so I assume they are touring that whole month too. So you have a gambling addiction? Haha. I sense an overactive competitive drive there. I will not be suckered into betting against TSOOL!

Hey, I tried that forty piece choir site but I couldn't get the mp3 links to work. I even searched on Kazaa and Winamp and they are surprisingly not on there yet. Are you a Pearl Jam fan? Their tickets just went on sale to Ten Club members. I can't wait, this will be a great Spring/Summer if both of my favs play here.

Take care, Dean.
